Midterm Elections

October 20, 2014

With the midterm elections just two weeks away, prognostications have reached a fever pitch. The recording for our own recent election analysis is now available on Thompson Coburn’s TCLE site.

For this information-packed session, the Thompson Coburn Lobbying & Policy Group invited Washington elections analyst Jim Ellis to provide an overview of what to expect on election night. Ellis is a member of the The Ellis Insight, which compiles BallotBoard, Thompson Coburn’s weekly election stats and polls. He was joined by Lobbying & Policy chair Ken Salomon.

The topics covered included:

  • Which party will control the Senate
  • Potential Republican gains in the House
  • The status of state governors embroiled in competitive races
  • The issues and attitudes are driving people to the polls
  • Post-election prognostication largely about the 2016 open presidential race
